“A Perfect Day” by Francesco Lauretta

Curated by Pietro Gaglianò

THE EXHIBITION:

Francesco Lauretta has decided to saturate the gallery space with the results of his recent visual research and is exhibiting more than ten artworks that combine oil on canvas with “spolvero” (an old transfer technique) on the wall. The project was conceived expressly for this exhibition and includes sunny landscapes and “memento mori” with the rhythm of a philosophical meditation that resembles an interpretation of life through the representation of visible, bright, daily existence.
“A Perfect Day” the artist takes sunny summer days – those perfect days by the sea – as a starting point from which to develop a body of painted work that has matured into the present exhibition. Painting is, for Lauretta, a great challenge and a place to risk the possibility of failure. The artist says: “ Only now am I able to conceive of such an exhibition. Enlightened and without limits, I expose myself as a free man, as a man devoted to that slight euphoria that recognizes the freedom in the tedium, as a man, a rather impractical one, who opens himself up to a hidden and sublime inactivity.  “Perfect Day” is this: a sublime paradox that takes form and attempts to see the invisible and to deny the inevitable.
