“A Nome di Tutti” by Enrico Vezzi

A Nome di Tutti (In the Name of everyone), is Enrico Vezzi’s title for his exhibition at SRISA, which raises several questions about the role of the artist and about the political meaning of representation. On whose behalf is the artist speaking when he chooses a vision and transforms it in a form? Who are the recipients of the artwork and how many among them are able to recognize themselves in the translation the artist makes of the world? In who’s name does the artist authoritatively evoke when he decides to make a mark in time? By analyzing the cultural structures that lead to questions around the theme of authorship, Vezzi undertakes a cross-disciplinary project that involves the students of Santa Reparata International School of Art. The artist asks such questions in a dimension of collective self-representation, in the name of himself, and in the name of everyone.
